Description

A delightfully soft, buttery bread that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, filled with sweet vanilla custard and rich chocolate chips.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup vanilla custard
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 egg (for egg wash) beaten with 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the warmed milk and eggs. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  3. Incorporate the softened butter slowly, mixing until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, approximately 60-120 minutes.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface.
  6. Cut the dough into pieces, filling each with vanilla custard and chocolate chips. Shape them into rolls.
  7. Place the rolls on a lined baking sheet, cover them, and allow them to rise for another hour.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Brush each brioche with your egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until they’re golden brown.
