Description
A delightful pastry filled with creamy cheese and sweet-tart blueberries, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Blend the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl until the mixture is smooth.
- Toss the fresh blueberries with a tablespoon of sugar in another bowl, allowing the fruit to macerate a bit.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface, then cut it into squares.
- Place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture on each pastry square and top them with a few blueberries, swirling gently to combine.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg for a beautiful golden crust, then bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
Notes
If you’re in a pinch, store-bought cream cheese works just as well. For a hint of zest, consider adding a splash of lemon juice to the cream cheese mixture.
