Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup warm water
- Flaky sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough discard, warm water, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Stir until nicely blended.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into small pieces, rolling each one into a bite-sized ball.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and carefully immerse the dough balls for around 30 seconds. Remove them and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the tops generously with flaky sea salt for that iconic touch.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving to enjoy their full flavor.
Notes
Serve warm with mustard or cheese dips. For a fun twist, try filling them with melted cheese before baking.
