A delightful dessert combining rich buttery cake and crunchy pecan praline.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs to the butter mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in the buttermilk and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
- Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Prepare the praline topping by combining brown sugar, heavy cream, and remaining pecans in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the praline topping over the baked cake. Let it cool completely before slicing.
