Description

A delightful pastry that combines creamy cream cheese with sweet peaches, perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 6 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk (room temperature)
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 15 oz can Del Monte Garden Quality® sliced peaches, drained
  • 1 sheet store-bought frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg mixed with 1 Tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar mixed with 1/2 Tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Make the cream cheese filling by beating the cream cheese and sugar on low speed until smooth.
  3. Add egg yolk, vanilla extract, salt, and lemon juice. Mix until fully blended and set aside.
  4. Prepare the peach filling by draining the peaches and slicing them into 1/4-inch thick pieces.
  5. Assemble the Danish by dusting parchment paper with flour and placing the thawed puff pastry on it. Roll it out slightly to flatten.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture down the center third of the pastry, keeping a 1-inch border at the top and bottom.
  7. Arrange peach slices uniformly over the cream cheese filling.
  8. Cut off the top corners of the pastry.
  9. Create diagonal cuts, 1-inch apart, along both sides of the pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border from the filling.
  10. Braid the pastry by folding the strips in an alternating pattern.
  11. Apply the egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  12. Bake for 25-28 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  13. Make the glaze by stirring together powdered sugar and milk, then drizzle over the pastry.
  14. Slice and serve your beautifully braided Danish to family and friends!

Notes

Serve warm with coffee or tea. Can be topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
