Description

Savory mushroom and cheese stuffed puff pastry bites that are buttery and flaky, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 17.3 oz puff pastry
  • 16 oz cremini mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 12 oz sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add cleaned and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Season with a pinch of salt and cook until they release their moisture and are browned, around 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in shredded sharp white cheddar cheese until melted and fully combined.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares (around 3×3 inches).
  7. Place a spoonful of the mushroom-cheese mixture in the center of each square, fold the pastry over, and seal the edges with a fork.
  8. Arrange the puff bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a little olive oil for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These bites can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking. They also freeze well uncooked.
