Description

A delightful dish featuring succulent chicken breast in a zesty lemon and basil sauce, perfect for busy weeknights or impressing guests.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds chicken breast
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 23 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tsp lemon zest
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by flattening the chicken with a mallet for even cooking.
  2. Season the chicken with salt and black pepper and set it aside.
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the chicken and cook until it’s lightly browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Once browned, remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  6. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter.
  7. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds to release its fragrance.
  8. Whisk in the flour until it’s well combined with the butter and garlic.
  9. Gradually pour in the chicken stock and lemon juice while constantly stirring to avoid lumps.
  10. Stir in the lemon zest for that zingy kick.
  11. Return the chicken to the skillet and let it simmer, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens.
  12. Finally, sprinkle chopped basil over the top, season to taste with salt and black pepper, and you’re ready to serve!

Notes

For a creamier sauce, stir in a tablespoon of heavy cream at the end. Consider adding red pepper flakes for heat or substituting chicken with shrimp or tofu for variety.
