Description

A cozy and flavorful dish featuring layered sweet potatoes with garlic and creamy cheese that’s perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated cheese (Gruyere or cheddar)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine heavy cream and minced garlic in a saucepan. Heat gently until just simmering.
  3. Grease a baking dish with olive oil or butter.
  4. Begin layering sweet potato slices in the baking dish, seasoning each layer lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. Drizzle some of the cream mixture over the sweet potatoes and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the sweet potatoes are tender and the top is golden.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Slice sweet potatoes uniformly for even baking. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses for varied flavors.
