Description
Curry beef empanadas are a delicious fusion of flavors, combining spiced ground beef with golden, flaky dough. Perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons curry powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package empanada dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Oil for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat, then sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until they become soft and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until it’s browned and no longer pink.
- Season the mixture with curry powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the spices to infuse the meat.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Roll out the empanada dough and cut it into circles using a pastry cutter or a bowl.
- Place a generous spoonful of the beef filling in the center of each dough circle.
- Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape, sealing the edges by pressing them together.
- Brush the tops of the empanadas with the beaten egg for a beautiful, golden finish.
- Place the empanadas on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve warm and enjoy a burst of flavor in every bite!
Notes
For a lighter option, swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken. Use a plant-based meat substitute for a vegetarian version. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
