Description

Curry beef empanadas are a delicious fusion of flavors, combining spiced ground beef with golden, flaky dough. Perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package empanada dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Oil for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat, then sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until they become soft and fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until it’s browned and no longer pink.
  4. Season the mixture with curry powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the spices to infuse the meat.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  6. Roll out the empanada dough and cut it into circles using a pastry cutter or a bowl.
  7. Place a generous spoonful of the beef filling in the center of each dough circle.
  8. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape, sealing the edges by pressing them together.
  9. Brush the tops of the empanadas with the beaten egg for a beautiful, golden finish.
  10. Place the empanadas on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy a burst of flavor in every bite!

Notes

For a lighter option, swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken. Use a plant-based meat substitute for a vegetarian version. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
