Description
A fun and accessible twist on sushi, these crispy spicy tuna sushi cups combine creamy tuna with crunchy wonton wrappers, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 wonton wrappers
- 8 ounces sushi-grade tuna
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 scallion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook according to package instructions, allowing to steam for an additional 10 minutes post-cooking.
- Mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Once your rice is warm and fluffy, fold this mixture into the rice and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush or spray wonton wrappers with oil, press into a mini muffin tin, and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Dice the sushi-grade tuna into small pieces. In a bowl, combine the tuna with mayonnaise, sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, and scallion. Mix until well coated.
- Fill each wonton cup with sushi rice and top with spicy tuna mixture.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro, and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider frying the wonton cups instead of baking. Adjust sriracha for desired spice level.
