Description

These bite-sized tacos balance crunch and flavor, featuring a savory chicken filling bathed in a sweet and tangy teriyaki glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Wonton wrappers (square or round)
  • Cooking oil (vegetable or canola, for frying)
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • Shredded cabbage or lettuce (optional)
  • Diced green onions (optional)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Sriracha or spicy mayo (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat, ensuring it reaches the right temperature for frying.
  2. Fry the wonton wrappers one by one, using tongs to gently fold them into a taco shape. Fry for 20-30 seconds on each side until crispy and golden, then drain on paper towels.
  3. Cook the chicken in another skillet by heating sesame oil over medium heat, adding the diced chicken along with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked and slightly caramelized.
  4. Make the teriyaki glaze in a small saucepan by combining soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil over medium-low heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry gradually until thickened. Remove from heat.
  5. Combine the teriyaki glaze with the cooked chicken and toss until evenly coated, then let it simmer for another minute.
  6. Assemble each crispy wonton shell with a generous spoonful of glazed chicken, topped with shredded cabbage, green onions, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of sriracha or spicy mayo if desired.
