Description

Irresistible dessert bars combining cinnamon and sugar with a creamy filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until fluffy and light in color.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well blended.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  6. In another bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  7. Spread half of the snickerdoodle batter into the greased pan, creating an even layer.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the batter, followed by spoonfuls of the remaining snickerdoodle batter.
  9. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the batter gently for a marbled effect.
  10. To finish, mix a little sugar with cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle this over the top.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  12. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing them into squares.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute unsalted butter with coconut oil or cream cheese with Greek yogurt.
