Description

A delightful dish that brings warmth and brightness to the table, combining fluffy quinoa with cinnamon and fresh orange zest.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 2 cups almond milk (or your choice of milk)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup dried fruits (e.g., raisins, cranberries, or apricots)
  • 1 orange (zest and juice)
  • Sweetener to taste (e.g., maple syrup or honey, optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by rinsing the quinoa under cold water to remove its natural bitterness.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the quinoa, almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, freshly squeezed orange juice, and orange zest.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce it to a simmer and cover the pan, cooking for about 15 minutes, or until the quinoa is tender and the liquid has absorbed.
  4. After removing from heat, gently stir in the dried fruits, cover again, and let it sit for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Serve warm and, if desired, drizzle with a bit of maple syrup or honey to sweeten.

Notes

Rinse quinoa well to reduce any bitter residue. Experiment with different dried fruits or add chopped nuts for extra texture.
