Description
A delightful dish that brings warmth and brightness to the table, combining fluffy quinoa with cinnamon and fresh orange zest.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup quinoa
- 2 cups almond milk (or your choice of milk)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup dried fruits (e.g., raisins, cranberries, or apricots)
- 1 orange (zest and juice)
- Sweetener to taste (e.g., maple syrup or honey, optional)
Instructions
- Begin by rinsing the quinoa under cold water to remove its natural bitterness.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the quinoa, almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, freshly squeezed orange juice, and orange zest.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce it to a simmer and cover the pan, cooking for about 15 minutes, or until the quinoa is tender and the liquid has absorbed.
- After removing from heat, gently stir in the dried fruits, cover again, and let it sit for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve warm and, if desired, drizzle with a bit of maple syrup or honey to sweeten.
Notes
Rinse quinoa well to reduce any bitter residue. Experiment with different dried fruits or add chopped nuts for extra texture.
