Description
A delightful and easy-to-make chocolate croissant breakfast bake that combines flaky croissants, rich custard, and melty chocolate, perfect for a cozy morning.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large croissants, torn into pieces
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer the croissants: Place the torn croissant pieces and chocolate chips in the prepared baking dish.
- Whisk the custard: In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Soak the croissants: Pour the egg mixture over the croissants. Use your fingers to press gently, ensuring every piece is soaked in the custard.
- Let it rest: Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, letting the croissants absorb the custard.
- Bake: Pop it in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- Serve: Once done, let it cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.
Notes
Use fresh croissants for better texture and let it soak for creamier results. Can be made ahead and reheated.
