Description

Deliciously easy chocolate chip scones that blend sweetness with buttery flakiness, perfect for breakfast or as a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter, and mix using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the whole milk and vanilla extract together.
  6. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  7. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently to bring it together.
  8. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut it into wedges.
  9. Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Optional: Brush the tops with an egg wash for a golden finish.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly, then enjoy!

Notes

These scones are best enjoyed fresh, paired with fruit or whipped cream. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
