- 4 Pita Bread
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 8 oz Mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup Shredded Cheese (Cheddar or Mozzarella)
- 1 cup Tzatziki Sauce
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- Salt & Pepper, to taste
- 1 cup Lettuce, shredded
- 1 Tomato, diced
- 1 Cucumber, sliced
- Fresh Herbs (Dill or Parsley), for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until fragrant and soft.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it into smaller pieces.
- Stir in sliced mushrooms and season generously with salt and pepper. Cook until the mushrooms are tender.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Stuff each pita pocket with the beef and mushroom mixture, ensuring to pack it tightly. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Arrange the stuffed pitas on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is perfectly melted.
- Serve warm alongside tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber for freshness.
Notes
Feel free to swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Add spices like cumin or paprika for extra flavor.
