Description

A delightful pasta dish featuring buttery caramelized onions, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, perfect for busy weeknights or impressing guests with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces pasta (spaghetti or fettuccine recommended)
  • 2 large yellow onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Combine olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat and allow them to melt.
  3. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until deep golden brown (about 20-25 minutes).
  4. Once caramelized, add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  5. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Toss the drained pasta into the skillet with the caramelized onions and mix gently over low heat.
  7. Serve warm, garnishing each plate with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.

Notes

For a smoky flavor, consider adding crumbled bacon. Sautéed spinach or kale can add nutrition while nutritional yeast can replace cheese for a vegetarian version.
