Description
A savory dish of tender black cod glazed with a umami-rich miso sauce, perfect for special occasions or casual dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tbsp Miso Paste
- 2 tbsp Mirin
- 2 tbsp Sake
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 4 Black Cod Fillets
- 1 tbsp Cooking Oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the miso paste, mirin, sake, brown sugar, and soy sauce until smooth.
- Marinate the Fish: Place the cod fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
- Preheat the Oven or Grill: If baking, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If grilling, heat the grill to medium-high.
- Cook the Cod: Remove the fillets from the marinade (you can brush extra marinade on top for more flavor). For the oven, bake the fish for 12-15 minutes, or until flaky. If grilling, place on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Finish: The fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork and has a nice glaze. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve over jasmine rice or alongside sautéed vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
