Description

A rich and moist chocolate poke cake layered with sweetened condensed milk, cherries, and topped with whipped cream, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients as instructed on the box)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • ¼ cup water (or cherry juice for extra flavor)
  • 1 tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 cup fresh cherries (optional, but highly recommended!)
  • ¼ cup dark chocolate curls or shavings

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven and prepare the chocolate cake mix as per the package instructions. Bake it in a 9×13-inch pan. Allow it to cool for about 5–10 minutes after taking it out.
  2. Poke & Soak: Once the cake has cooled slightly, use the end of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes all over the surface. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake evenly, letting it seep into those delightful holes. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes.
  3. Add the Toppings: After chilling, spread a layer of whipped topping across the soaked cake. Next, spoon the cherry pie filling evenly on top.
  4. Decorate: For a touch of elegance, garnish with fresh cherries and sprinkle dark chocolate curls or shavings atop.
  5. Chill Again & Serve: To enhance the flavors, refrigerate the cake for at least 120 minutes before slicing. This will yield the best texture!

Notes

For an impressive presentation, slice into generous squares and serve with extra cherry pie filling or chocolate sauce. Pair with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent twist.
