Description

This Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein is a delicious and flavorful Asian-inspired dish that combines tender beef, crisp broccoli, and chewy lo mein noodles in a savory sauce. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory with a touch of spice, making it a great meal for a family dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz lo mein noodles

1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tbsp vegetable oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tbsp ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)

1/4 cup water

1 tbsp sesame oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch (if using), and water. Pour the sauce over the broccoli and stir to combine.
  • Return the cooked beef to the pan, then add the cooked noodles. Toss everything together, making sure the noodles and beef are coated in the sauce.
  • Drizzle with sesame oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some chopped green onions on top before serving.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add a bit of chili paste or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can also substitute the beef with chicken or tofu for a different protein.
