Description

Delightful and pillowy almond-infused sweet rolls topped with a luscious glaze, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2¼ teaspoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl; mix well.
  2. Heat the milk and butter in a small saucepan until warm, ensuring it doesn’t get too hot.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients, then add the egg and almond extract. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth; this should take about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, then spread with a little butter and sprinkle with sugar and almond extract.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into slices.
  9. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  11. Mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract for the glaze, and drizzle over the warm rolls. Enjoy!

Notes

For best results, ensure your milk is just warm, and knead the dough well to develop its structure. Variations can include adding chocolate chips or incorporating spices.
